The starting week

 Introduction :

As being a Kingston alumnus for graphics pathway and changing my field in animations has been a roller-coaster ride. In first week, we've been introduced with the facilities university provide for students and how we could access that, specifically about canvas, how assessments work as having a class majorly consists of international students it was important for them, if I critically analysed that class, it was important for some students who were having doubts, it didn't help me that much and I could see some maya basic videos at that time.

Reference :

As being an artist, we have a stereotype of not using references that a true artist work should be all his own. In reality, references help you out achieving your goals and sometimes it can help in getting better at it as well. For using the references in our artworks, we can use a software; pureref which can be accessible at free of cost as well for beginners (don't forget to pay if you are getting lot of benefits from it and earning as well, it might help the developers from the pureref team) as being a part of practice, I chose a Greek mythology of goddess and purple thunder sky as it gives a scary while elegant look for a character design.

As a self critique of using reference is a positive response because in the past I used to do photoshop and pureref saved alot of time so it's likely to use this software in future.

Basics in Maya

In the 1st week of we've learned the basics of Maya (polygons, components, shelves and about deleting the history) and the workflow while working as an 3D artist.

The workflow has been discussed during the class, not in that much detail, just the tip of the ice of each discipline and how it works, and its importance while working in 3D softwares.

For this blog, we'll be only discussing about Modelling part and how we can achieve the basic step through practice.

Why Clean Topology is Important?

Topology shows how well your vertices are organised. The better everything is done, the easier and faster it will be possible to work with your 3D models.

Navigation and Hot keys in Maya

In this part, we've learnt the basics of navigations and short keys in maya for a smooth workflow through-out.
In the below screenshots I've discussed the three main navigations keys W-E-R in a qwerty keyboard
W : move tool
E : Scale Tool
R : Rotate tool
we can see the perspective view on bottom left.
